Measurement Guide
The exact measurements we need will vary by piece. Here is your guide to a few of the most critical:
BUST:
This is the circumference around the fullest part of your chest. This is not your bra size. For the most accurate fit, wear a supportive, unpadded bra and avoid sports bras or bralettes.
WAIST:
This is the circumference around the smallest part of your natural waistline. If you're unsure where your waist is, tie a ribbon just below your underbust and let it settle naturally. Alternatively, bend sideways to find where your torso creases.
HIP:
This is the circumference around the fullest part of your hips and bottom.
HOLLOW TO WAIST:
This is the measurement from the hollow at the base of your neck (the indentation between your collarbones) straight down the center of your torso to your natural waistline.
HOLLOW TO FLOOR/HEM:
This is the length from the hollow of your neck (the dip between your collarbones) to where you want your dress to end. It determines your overall dress length.
WAIST TO FLOOR/HEM:
This is the length from your natural waistline to where you'd like the skirt or dress to end.
BICEP:
This is the circumference around the fullest part of your upper arm.
SLEEVE LENGTH:
The distance from the top of your shoulder (where a shoulder seam would sit) down to your wrist.
Tips for the Best Fit
Get Measured by a Professional
Measurements are tough to take on your own, and everything we make is built from the numbers you provide. For something this important, having a tailor or seamstress measure you ensures accuracy and peace of mind.
Wear the Right Undergarments
Take your measurements in the undergarments you expect to wear on your wedding day. Supportive pieces give the most accurate results, while anything with heavy padding or compression can distort your natural shape.
Stay True to Your Measurements
Don’t add extra room or size down. Our patterns already include the ease needed for comfort and movement. Accurate numbers are extremely important because they ensure the garment is made to fit you as intended.
When in Doubt, Add Extra Length
If you’re not sure what shoes you’ll wear yet, measure barefoot and add a few extra inches. It’s much easier to hem a dress shorter than to add length later, and this gives you flexibility when picking your heels.
